Long afore the retro-licious Z8 and the avant-garde 6 Series, BMW's range-topping action auto was the 8-Series. Characterized by its characteristic bluff adenoids and attainable with a best of eight- or 12-cylinder engines, the 8-Series was acutely never offered as a convertible.
